Connexions Counselling : Next step

Taking the next step :  Making the decision to seek help through counselling can feel like a major step. You may have been considering this for a long time by yourself or friends or family may have suggested it might possibly be helpful to you. You might want to come alone, with a partner or other family members.

It is very important that you feel comfortable with the decision to talk with a counsellor and equally important that you feel at ease with the counsellor you see.

Counsellors and psychotherapists should always be accredited with a recognized organisation, such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and registered with a body like the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP).

An initial consultation appointment should enable you to decide whether you feel comfortable talking about yourself to a counsellor in a confidential  setting. Likewise, the counsellor should be able to give you an idea of how they might be able to help.

Appointments made with Rod Thomas will be arranged at a mutually convenient time and you will not be expected to make a long term, open-ended commitment. Regular reviews of progress achieved will always be discussed in the course of the counselling.

Fees are charged on an hourly basis and sessions are usually arranged for between one and one and a half hours, subject to individual circumstances and the number of people involved.

Please note that at least 24 hours' notice is requested to cancel an appointment or the full fee is payable.
